It's a Master's end-of-study project conducted in partnership between USTHB and Sonatrach, with a focus on the virtual environment for petroleum drilling learning.
Our project aims to develop a learning application for oil drilling. The objective of
this application is to familiarize users with oil drilling equipment through a realistic
virtual environment in which they can freely navigate. This application will also provide an interactive simulation environment in which petroleum engineering students,
new employees in the industry, or anyone interested in learning the basic principles
of drilling can practice through interactive scenarios and simulations of real-life situations, in order to enhance their performance and understanding of the oil drilling
processes.
The first component of our project is an immersive virtual tour that provides a captivating and interactive experience for users. This virtual tour allows participants to virtually explore a specific location or environment without leaving their physical location. We leverage cutting-edge technologies such as virtual reality (VR) to create this immersive experience.
Within this virtual tour, users can explore places that may be difficult to access or dangerous in the real world, or even places that exist only virtually. They can interact with elements in the environment, receive contextual information, and immerse themselves in an experience that can be used for educational, entertainment, or professional purposes.
This part of our project aims to provide a new dimension to learning by harnessing the power of virtual technology.
Our objective in the second part of this project is to provide users with an interactive and realistic experience of the wireline logging technique. We aim to not only impart a thorough understanding of this measurement technique but also to familiarize users with the tools involved in the process. Furthermore, we want to empower them with the practical skills required to manipulate the wireline cable effectively.
Through our wireline logging simulation, users will gain hands-on experience in controlling and operating the wireline cable, a crucial component in subsurface data acquisition in industries such as geology, mining, and petroleum exploration. This immersive learning experience will allow users to practice and refine the necessary skills and techniques in a safe and controlled virtual environment.
This part of our project aims to equip users with the knowledge and practical expertise required for successful wireline logging operations.
